ENGL 102.022/025 Assignments
5/2 - 5/11/05 & FINAL EXAM (Weeks 15-16)


Assignments can be updated at needs/speed of the class; you will be notified of updates by e-mail, and are responsible for checking the page after notification.
NOTICE: FINAL EXAM MATERIALS FOR ALL ENGL 102 CLASSES:
The date and time of the English 102 final exam is Friday, May 20, from 3:15-5:15 p.m., room t.b.a. this week. (Yes, that's the last day of exams. See the notice posted in the English Department main office in Holloway Hall for anyone thinking of just skipping or rescheduling this exam because of vacation plans.)
The exam is closed book, in two parts:
Part 1: 33 multiple-choice questions (11 each from drama, short fiction, and poetry) to bubble in on a Scantron sheet that I will provide
Part 2: an essay from your choice of topics assigned on the exam itself,to be written in a blue examination book that I will provide.
Assigned texts for the exam, for you to read on your own (we cannot discuss them in class):
Play: The Playboy of the Western World by J.M. Synge in The Playboy of the Western World and Riders to the Sea, by J. M. Synge
Story: "The Stones of the Village, " by Alice Dunbar Nelson in Great Short Stories by American Women, by Candace Ward (Editor)
Both of these texts are now available for purchase in the SU bookstore for $1.95 each. (Yep, $4.00 for the two of them.)
Poem: "The Heavy Bear Who Goes with Me," by Delmore Schwartz, available through this link or this link for you to print out and read on your own.

    Bring implements with which to write, including a #2 pencil for the multiple-choice part of the exam.
