    Have read, taken notes on, and be ready to discuss:
    -- Lorraine Hansberry's A Raisin In the Sun Acts 2 & 3 in M pp.402-441

  • for WEDNESDAY February 15

    Have read, taken notes on, and be ready to discuss:
    --anything left over from A Raisin in the Sun (doubtful, but just in case)
    -- Sophocles' Antigone in M pp.733-70; we'll get through as much of the play and its dramtic elements as possible.
    -- We will also discuss the parameters for Essay #1 (see Essay 1 site)
    -- review "Writing About Drama" ("Collection 1 "Drama" library reserve)/online PDF from last week.

    -- in class we'll review for the drama quiz; please print out and bring the study guide for Quiz #1 Drama

  • for WEDNESDAY February 22 -- ***CLASS CANCELLED FOR TODAY.*** PLEASE FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS:
    -- First Draft of Essay #1 still due Friday, as assigned.
    -- TO SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR DRAFT TO TURNITIN.COM:
    1) click this link to go to turnitin.com
    2) if you have never used turnitin.com before, click on "new users" at the top of the screen--this will take you to the "create a user profile" page. (If you already have a turnitin.com account from a previous class, then skip creating a new account and submit your paper using the ID and password for your section listed at step 4 below)
    3) select "student" and click "next"
    4) input the ID and password that applies to your class section from the following choices, then click "next":
    for section 022 (MW 3-4:15 class) ID = 1474940 psswd = antigone
    for section 025 (MW 4:30-5:45 class) ID = 1474942 psswd = antigone
    MAKE SURE YOU SUBMIT YOUR PAPER TO THE CORRECT CLASS. Type in the ID and password exactly as they appear here--cut and paste may be more accurate.
    5) enter your e-mail address, and click "next"
    6) create a personal password for your account
    7) follow the directions for the "secret question" prompt
    8) after you have finished creating your account, go back to the main page of turnitin.com, enter your e-mail address and personal password, and follow the instructions for submitting a copy of your paper
    9) at the site for your class section (use ID and psswd from step 4 above), click on "E#1 First Draft" to submit your draft, and follow the instructions.

    -- we will finish discussing Antigone on Monday, and have our drama quiz then as well.
    -- please click the link for weeks 5-6 at the bottom of this page for next week's readings/schedule.

  • on FRIDAY February 23
    -- first draft of Essay #1 due, to my office (Holloway 344), by 4 p.m. Double check that you've followed all requirements set out in the assignment (see Essay 1 site)
    --be sure to submit a copy of your draft electronically to turnitin.com no later than 9 p.m. tonight (see the instructions listed under Wednesday above)
